[Darwin College]

Darwin College was named after the biologist Charles Darwin, who graduated from Cambridge University.

Darwin College is the first post-graduate college in Cambridge University, and the first to recruit both female and male students. The college’s front door is modern and equipped with automatic glass door.

In 1964, Trinity College, Gonville & Caius College, and St. John College founded Darwin College, in order to transfer their graduate students to this new college. So the College arms involves parts of arms of the three college.

Cambridge University has 31 colleges, where seven colleges’ backs face River Cam, called The backs. The seven colleges are: Darwin College, Quenes’ College, King’s College, Clare College, Trinity Hall, Trinity College, and St. John College.
