The Bridge to Paradise

Pacific typhoon season is from about June to October every year. Although some of them do cause disasters, typhoons bring Taiwan necessary water for subsequent dry winter. In fact, not all typhoons hit Taiwan. In last month, two typhoons roamed nearby and finally land mainland China. The storms did not affect Taiwan much but did lead to several thunder showers in the late afternoon, which bring the bridge of Paradise.

Rainbow play an very important role in stories for children. It is always related to paradise, heaven, or  celestials . I took the legends seriously when I was a child- in a later afternoon, when a thundershower stopped, I runned to catch up a side of a rainbow for nearly an hour. And finally I lerned that it is indeed a story for children.

When I went to school, I knew that rainbow is just the refraction along with the reflection of light. But this simple theory is a important fundamental in technology and science.

The double rainbows is barely seen. Primary rainbow is due to  single reflection of light inside water drops, while secondary rainbow locating outside is caused by doulbe relfection of light in water drops.

前幾個星期兩個西北颱雖過門不入，在傍晚時分造成造成了短暫的狂風暴雨，也送來了天堂的訊息。

彩虹在童話故事裡，與人間仙境、仙女與天堂有深厚的關係。小時候，很認真的以為，彩虹在地上的那端，真的可以讓我爬到天堂上，因此在一個雷陣雨的下午，追逐了一個小時後，才相信那真的是童話故事。

年紀再大一點後，明白了虹只是水滴折射與反射斜照的光線，這很簡單的道理，卻是科學中極重要的原理。

光線被水滴反射一次的虹較亮，比較容易看見，紅光在最外層。如果水滴數夠多，空氣夠乾淨，天色也夠亮，外圈還會出現副虹，或是稱霓，是光線被水滴反射兩次的結果。這兩個傍晚的雷陣雨，洗淨了北台灣混濁的天空，出現難得的雙虹景觀。
